Dan Fogelberg Dies at 56

Dan Fogelberg, one of the great singer / songwriters of the 1970's died this morning after a 3 year battle with Prostate Cancer. For those of you unfamiliar with his music, take a listen to the lyrics. Dan Fogelberg performing "Leader of the Band" a song he wrote about his father:

Ok, now my commmentary. I don't think Floyd's score reflects the amount of energy he brought to the dance floor. His posture was really bad. He was leaning forward (perhaps like he does when he's fighting) the whole time, but his foot work was FAST! It's a little early to tell if any of these guys could emerge as a strong competitor or not? Nobody was really bad like in years past.

The standouts for me tonight were Helio and Julianne, and Albert and Anna. Julianne choreographed a really cute Foxtrot and he performed it well. Albert did sort of an Elvis thing with a lot of hip action. He know's he is the least well known of the guys and he looked like he was performing for his life in this competition!

After having seen both the guys and the gals, I'd have to say Josie is probably toast. She had the lowest score of both the men and the women, plus she isn't very well known. Without an established fan base she didn't do much to endear herself to America.

I think each celebrities professional dance partner can make or break them. Obviously to win they have to have some talent, but without a good partner they won't last long! A good professional partner does two things. First, choreographs a dance that shows a lot of personality (Julianne), and plays to the strengths of their celebrity (Cheryl). Some of the men (Maksim) seem more interested in looking good on the dance floor, than making their partner look good. Is that why men keep winning this competition? Something to ponder...

Jennie and Derek

Josie and Alec eliminated :(

This was better than I expected! I didn't have very high hopes if I'm being honest (for you BB fans, now I am talking like Daniele!).

Without having seen the guys, I would say the only two with a chance of winning the disco ball trophy are either Sabrina (tons of energy) or Melanie? I actually thought Jennie wasn't bad, just tentative. If she can shake that she might have a chance of going far. Josie would have benefited from a ChaCha instead of a Foxtrot...given the swimsuit thing. Being an unknown, she seemed pretty stiff. Marie and Jane weren't bad, we'll see how they do with a Latin number.

The guys seemed pretty interesting! Not a vertically challenged one in the bunch...unusual for this show. They look good that's for sure! Lets see how they can dance. What do you think?
