American Idol - Top 6 - Carly Smithson -- "Jesus Christ Superstar"

Randy: Yo; I don't know if this was your best; but definately good.
Paula: I loved it because it was so unexpected; loved the chorus.
Simon: It got a little shouty in the middle; one of my favorite of the night.
Me: Sounded like she was screaming.

American Idol - Top 7 - Carly Smithson -- "Without You"

Randy: Yo, I liked that you challenged yourself with this song; you have to believe in yourself and use your lower range too!
Paula: I actually liked that you showed some vocal restraint; you made it your own.
Simon: I really wanted to see you sing this song even before Mariah Carey week. So, here we are, and did it work. And, I don't think it did. It was ok, but you can do better, you have to believe in yourself and stop over thinking everything.
Me: It was pretty good, she just is constantly scrunching up her face. She has zero connection with the audience.

American Idol - Top 8 - Carly Smithson -- "The Show Must Go On"

Randy: Started out good, got a little pitchy, just ok for me.
Paula: I didn't feel engaged with you, voice sounded amazing
Simon: You look good. An unusual choice for you, you lost control of the song. It came across as angry which goes against the theme for tonight.
Me: Love this song. Really didn't care for this. It did seem angry. Carly always seems angry to me.

American Idol - Top 9 - Carly Smithson - "Here You Come Again"

Randy: That will probably be one of the better performances of the night
Paula: Amazing talent; that voice of yours omigod!
Simon: I thought it was good, didn't think it was great; also you need to have a word with who is dressing you!
Me: I hate when she scrunches up her eyes. But, one of my fav Carly performances. Agree with Simon about the wardrobe! Sorry.

Randy: Another amazing performance by Carly Smithson.
Paula: Your nuances are wonderful, you have a lovely voice.
Simon: I didn't like the song at all. I think it was a bad choice.
Me: My favorite song of Carly's so far! You know I haven't liked her much so far. Loved it! I hate her outfit. Sorry.

Simon: Week after week I feel you have chosen the wrong song, until now.
Me: I didn't much care for it? Crowd liked it.
