Here's some info on the Big Brother "twist" this season from zap2it:
For the first-ever winter edition of "Big Brother," CBS has assembled the show's biggest cast ever -- and they're all looking to hook up.
In fact, they'll have no choice but to do so. All 16 players are single, but the wrinkle in the game this season is that when they enter the house, each will be paired with a "soul mate." Whether they end up liking one another or not, their fate in the house will be tied to their partner.
Each pair will also live together as a couple -- which means, per CBS, that they will "sleep in the same bed, hold Head of Household as a couple, be nominated for eviction as a pair, and if the time comes, say their goodbyes together upon eviction."

Big Brother 9 Sneak Peak - Kimberly Caldwell
I have to say, as a blogger there is nothing I love more than when my blogging worlds collide! Check out Kimberly in the Diary Room!
Kimberly Caldwell, former American Idol Top 12 contestant in Season 2, and current TV Guide Network correspondent, was given the opportunity, as the co-host of Idol Tonight and Reality Chat to get a sneak peak at the Big Brother house for Season 9, along with 7 other members of the media.
Here's an excerpt of a recap of her experience:
I'm not just a huge fan of Big Brother — I'm a huge psycho fan! So when I was asked to live in the house, I was like, "Wow, OK, cool!" Then I got scared. Twelve hours? Who are they gonna put me with? What's gonna happen to me? I mean, I really like watching the show, but I don't want to be one of those people! Do I?
But I got it together and went and, naturally, overpacked. I've seen those challenges where you end up getting soaked in butter, so I brought a huge duffel bag like I was moving in. Stepping into the house, which for Season 9 they've done up like a winter log cabin, is very surreal. Little cameras are everywhere except in the 2-by-2 toilet, where they have a microphone dropped down from above. I was a little pee-shy, I have to say. But eventually my bladder and I worked it out.
The producers wanted us to do the equivalent of a full week of BB, so we had the Head of Household and Power of Veto (POV) competitions, and an eviction. I even tasted slop, which is just like vomit. When we saw the photo wall, I was like, "Oh, my god! This is the worst picture of me ever! My life is totally over!" And I broke into tears. I don't think anybody understood I was imitating Jen from BB 8. Oh, well.
TONS of Big Brother 9 news today...I'll keep you posted!

For Big Brother Fans - Danielle Donato interview!

Carolyn at BB9Dish has an interview on her site with Danielle Donato, 2nd place finisher of BB8! MeTalkinToYou will keep you posted on all of the major events in the Big Brother 9 house starting Feb 12th, but for 24/7 coverage be sure to check out her site.
An excerpt:
CAROLYN: Looking back on the season, and frankly even while we were in it, the central theme was always the rebuilding of your relationship with your dad, and for the majority of the viewing audience, we couldn't have asked for a more fairytale ending. Do you feel like that's a solid thing now, as a result of your time & travails together in the house?
DANIELE: I certainly feel that it has brought us together. The biggest thing I take from the house is life lessons. I cannot even tell you how much I have learned from this experience. I have definitely grown as person. On this topic, I finally realized that you may not have the story book family, but that doesn't mean you don't need your family.
Check out the rest of the interview here.

Allison Grodner on Big Brother 9
TV Guide sat down with our very own Allison Grodner to discuss the upcoming Big Brother 9 season (winter edition). They are still accepting applications and have a few open casting calls remaining. See my post here for the casting call schedule. Click the source link at the bottom of this post for the entire interview.
TVGuide.com: What do you look for in a Big Brother candidate?
Grodner: We are always looking for interesting personalities. We're looking for a diverse group of people from different backgrounds, with different personalities and different points of view. It's always about the mix — you mix it up, you close the door and throw away the key, and see what happens. [Laughs] Every year it's a surprise. We're looking for people who can be themselves, who are un-self-conscious and can be honest. And that's pretty much it. Last summer was a really good example of that; there was such a range of people. It's people you would never find together in the real world. [Laughs]
TVGuide.com: What can you tell us about the interview process for some past fan favorites?
Grodner: With Dr. Will [Kirby, who won Season 2], if I remember correctly, his tape was actually not that impressive. We thought, "This is a cute guy; he's a doctor." We liked the idea that this was someone from a white-collar background mixed in with everyone else. He came to our semifinals. Once we had an interview with him, we understood just how brilliant and charismatic he is. We were wowed by him. We knew he had potential, but we didn't know how much. And Dick [Donato, who won last season] diligently showed up at open calls for the past three years. Each year he made it further and further. Last year we had our [people-from-the-past] twist, and his daughter, Daniele, showed up to the open call as well, and they're not talking to each other... it just fell into our laps.
