What have you thought of Mad Men so far this season?
It certainly isn't as "fun" as last season, but equally, if not more, compelling. This season is a bit darker as we delve deeper into the lives of the characters. What Mad Men does so well is keep you wanting more! Check out this clip from the episode last night:

Mad Men - The New Girl

Last night I finally had a chance to catch the most recent Mad Men episode. Wow...my favorite episode this season!
Don getting the 1960's version of a DUI...with a $150 fine for a BAC of .15! Then, he calls Peggy of all people for the cash. We find out later in the episode just why he felt he could trust her.
If you haven't seen this show...AMC is having a Mad Men marathon of Season Two to date (Episode 1 - 5) on Sunday. I don't know if the time has been set yet, but I'd highly recommend recording it...!

Mad Men Return Date Set for July 27th!

I missed Mad Men last summer, but caught up with it during the replays over the winter. Be sure to check it out! In Season 2, the show will have a new timeslot on Sundays on AMC. The attention to detail and the reality of this show is chilling...it really is!
Here's an excerpt from the story:
The second season of the Golden Globe and Peabody Award-winning drama Mad Men has officially moved from the planning stage into reality this week with the beginning of production in Los Angeles. The series which will be broadcast in both high definition and standard definition will make its bow this July. While series creator Matthew Weiner has been customarily coy about divulging potential plots points for the upcoming season, he has revealed that John Slattery will be returning to the show as Roger Sterling.

Mad Men and Project Runway Win Peabody Awards

Two favorites of MeTalkinToYou have been awarded Peabody Awards!
The George Foster Peabody Awards....
...recognize distinguished achievement and meritorious public service by TV and radio stations, networks, producing organizations, individuals and the World Wide Web.
The awards program, established in 1940 and administered by the University of Georgia's Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, is the oldest, most prestigious honor in electronic media.
Here's what they said about each:
Project Runway Bravo, The Weinstein Company, The Magical Elves, Full Picture
A series that redeems the reality-contest genre, this face-off competition among upstart fashion designers demands, displays and ultimately rewards creativity that can`t be bluffed.
Mad Men AMC, Lionsgate Pictures Television
The way they were on Madison Avenue, in the Manhattan towers and the bedroom communities of New York, circa 1960, is recalled in rich detail and a haze of cigarette smoke in this exemplary period dramatic series.

Mad Men - Check it out!
No, I am not going to be recapping a show that is only playing repeats!
However, if you haven't seen this show, I would highly recommend you set the DVR on Sunday nights to AMC at 12/11pm CST and get caught up before the new season of Mad Men starts this summer!
This show is so interesting and authentic in depicting the early 1960's. This show takes place loooong before "politically correct" became a catch phrase, and looong before the roles of women at home and in the workplace evolved to how we know it today. We've come a long way baby!
There is a huge canyon between what is OK to say today, and what was OK to say back then. Be prepared to be shocked! It's really nostalgic though, and worth a watch. This show is NOT available streaming on AMC, BUT you can watch a sneak peak or two here!

Mad Men - Golden Globe Winner - Re-Airs 1st Season Starting Sunday

One of my favorite TV critics is Maureen Ryan, The Watcher with the Chicago Tribune. While I was caught up in Big Brother this past summer I completely missed the new series she (along with many others) had raved about on AMC - "Mad Men", until it was too late.
The Hollywood Foreign Press recently awarded "Mad Men" two of the top awards for Best Drama Series, and Best Actor in a TV Drama (Jon Hamm) at the Golden Globes, beating out other critically acclaimed nominees Damages and House (Series) and Hugh Laurie (Actor).
I think this show deserves a watch! Set your DVR's. "Mad Men's" first season re-airs on AMC starting at 12/11c this Sunday.
