Kevin Covias - "College" - Movie Premiere

Kevin Covias seems to have a pretty substantial role in this movie coming out in August. Check out the premiere:

Taylor Hicks to Join "Grease" on Broadway!

Our very own Taylor Hicks is the most recent Idol to take on Broadway. Taylor will be joining the cast of "Grease" in the role of "Teen Angel" from June 6th through September 7th. Ironically, Taylor will be joining the cast of the Grease: You're the One That I Want winners - Laura and Max!

Here's an excerpt from an article on eonline:

Just when Taylor Hicks seemed to be in danger of being a public-eye dropout, along comes the favorite landing spot of many an American Idol refugee.

Broadway.

Starting June 6, the silvery haired season-five champ will jump into the role of Teen Angel, Frenchy's guardian angel and the singer of "Beauty School Dropout," in the current reality-show-fueled revival of Grease at the Brooks Atkinson Theater.

Hicks is slated to Soul Patrol the stage until Sept. 7.

Elliott Yamin's Mother Dies

The Richmond Times-Dispatch is reporting that Elliott Yamins mother, Claudette Yamin died last night. Here's an excerpt:

Claudette Yamin, mother of singer Elliott Yamin, died last night. She was 65.

She had been hospitalized during the weekend at Henrico Doctors' Hospital. Her cause of death was not released.

Elliott Yamin, 29, became a local celebrity during his 2006 run on the TV show "American Idol," where he placed third. During the competition, his mother, Claudette, became known to "Idol"-watchers and Richmonders for her fiery spirit.

Last year, Claudette Yamin moved briefly to Los Angeles, but returned to the Richmond area in February.

"I went to see if I could rebuild my health," she said in a February interview with the Richmond Times-Dispatch. (A broken hip had never fully mended.)

A message posted last night on Elliott Yamin's Web site by his good friend Brandon Crowe said, "The world lost a beautiful soul. I can't go into any details at this time except to say that she went peacefully."

Crowe's message on etrainstation.com said the family has asked for privacy and that in lieu of sending flowers, donations can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's Central Virginia chapter. (Elliott Yamin has Type 1 diabetes).

Our thoughts are with Elliott and his family.

Katharine McPhee - The New Face Of Neutrogena

The story from eonline via yahoo news:

E! News has learned the erstwhile American Idol also-ran has signed a two-year endorsement deal with Neutrogena to become the new flawless face of the skin-care company's antiacne product line.

"We are delighted to confirm that actress/singer Katharine McPhee is working with Neutrogena on an innovative new project that brings consumers the next generation of skin care," the company told E! News exclusively.

Wasting no time in touting the benefits of Neutrogena, McPhee, who turned 24 on Tuesday, shot her first commercial for the line in Los Angeles March 16. The ad will hit the small screen in May, with the print ads following suit.

Idols (and Others) in the News

I have been a little idle taking advantage of this last week before the premiere, and have decided one MEGA post is more efficient to catch you up on all of the news instead of several individual posts!

- Kelly Clarkson Number 5, Posh Beckham Number 1, on Blackwells Worst Dressed List of 2007. Posh is interesting due to the rumor that she is being wooed by Heidi Klum to be a guest judge on Project Runway, a show about fashion!

- Taylor Hicks speaks to fans about being dropped by J Records.

- Phil Stacey's first single hit radio on Monday. Slim over at idolbloglive has the audio here.

- Dance Wars: Bruno vs. Carri Ann. I am not a huge fan of the audition process on any of these shows, so I am withholding judgement. My favorite at first glance? Maxx. How can ya not love Drew as the host?

- Carrie Underwood to headline her next tour beginning in February. Tickets go on sale Jan 12th. Read about it here.

Taylor Hicks Dropped by Record Label J Records

EW (Entertainment Weekly) has been busy. They are reporting that Taylor Hicks is the second American Idol winner to be dropped by J Records this year. In December, we reported here that Ruben Studdard had been dropped by his label (also by J Records).

Well I still love Taylor, and I hope he finds a better fit elsewhere.

Kellie Pickler - Santa Baby

What's Christmas without a little Pickler?

Daughtry - "Crashed" - Music Video Premiere

Any of the songs on this CD could be a hit in my opinion! The best freshman CD of any Idol to date:

Paris Bennett - Ordinary Love - Music Video Debut

Elliott Yamin - Wait For You - Video World Premier

I realize this is late, but I wanted to be sure to add it to my collection. Elliott's Debut CD became the #1 Independent Album Release and sold more records the first week, than ANY OTHER INDEPENDENT Debut EVER. Congrats Elliott!

Kellie Pickler - I Wonder - Music Video

Maybe this has been out for awhile, but I hadn't seen it until now. The second single on Kellie's debut album "Small Town Girl".

Elliott Yamin - Music Video Debut Teaser - I Will Wait For You

this is really great...I love it!

Bucky Covington - A Different World - Video

You know I find it hard to believe looking at the bunch we have left that Season 6 will have the success of Season 5. I am not a Country Music fan, but I love this Video and Song. Bucky looks so much more comfortable than he ever did on American Idol. I wish him well!

Just for FUN!

All of these were STAND OUT performances in their respective seasons...for comparison purposes!

Carrie Underwood (Season 4) performing "Alone"

Constantine Maroulis (Season 4) performing "My Funny Valentine"

Paris Bennett ( Season 5) performing "Midnight Train to Georgia"
