Top 10 GIRLS Perform - Reviews / Predictions

I will be blogging LIVE...updating occassionally on commercials. That being said, my comments may change once I have heard all of the contestants.

Gina Glocksen - “Alone”
Nice song choice for Gina. Good start for the night! Should be good enough, but the first spot of the night is historically the WORST spot. Gina should be good enough to survive though? I think she’s better than at least two other girls? We will see.

Alaina Alexander – I’m Not Ready to Make Nice”
Alaina looks great. I love her hair! She certainly has the desire, not so sure about the voice? A better song for her than last week. I still think I like her more than some of the others, BARELY.

Lakisha Jones – “Midnight Train to Georgia”
Gladys Knight is a great choice for any of these power singers! She has a great song book to select from. I wish more of these kids would take her on. Paris Bennett sang this last year in the first Semi- Finals week. This was BETTER. Enough said! Lakisha isn’t going anywhere!

Melinda Doolittle – “My Funny Valentine”
Oh BOY Constantine performed this…takes me back! Constantine was not this good. LOVE Melinda! Really shows off her pipes! There isn’t a guy that can touch these girls…so far! Amazing!

Antonella Barba – “Because You Love Me”
My fingers were really crossed for Antonella. Love her dress…she looks fantastic! Somewhere in the middle of the song she completely lost it. The beginning and end were better. I agree with Paula, she was much better than last week! She’s got VFTW vote and isn’t going anywhere, which could mean somebody better than her is going home.

Jordin Sparks - “My Reflection”
I really don’t know any of Christina’s songs so I don’t know what the song is supposed to sound like. Was this song from a movie? It sounds like it. Having said that, I love Jordin. I actually like her and Melinda more than Lakisha, and I LIKE Lakisha. She is someone I can see really GROWING in this competition. She is fearless, likable and cute. She doesn't seem to have as much control as some of the other girls, but she's only 17!

Stephanie Edwards - “Dangerously in Love”
Not a fan of this song. It’s getting hard to like everyone, so I’m looking for a reason to not like someone! I think this was a bad song choice, as tight as this competition is. OK what do I know, I guess everybody knows this song but me…Beyonce? Still didn’t like it as much as the others. Two strong performances from Stephanie though, she’s not going anywhere.

Leslie Hunt – “I’m Feeling Good”
I liked that. She’s got some spunk! And she’s different, but with the competition she’s up against it’s gonna be rough. She has propelled herself out of the bottom 3 for me…potentially. Interestingly, this is the same song performed by AJ Tabaldo the night before? I would never have known that...would you?

Haley Scarnato – “Queen of the Night”
That was really forgettable. I think Haleys biggest competition is Gina, and I think Gina is better? I don’t think both of them will make it through? I just think they are similar in the kinds of songs they like to sing. So anyway, I think Haley is really vulnerable. Plus, it’s very difficult to spell her name right because she spells Hayley wrong!

Sabrina Sloan – “He Fills Me Up”
Sabrina is in it to win it. I didn’t like her in the beginning, but she is growing on me. She really has the pipes. How are we gonna widdle these girls down to 6? I think Sabrina is gonna have to fight it out with Stephanie for a spot in the Final 6 girls...who will win?

My Bottom 3: Antonella, Haley, Alaina
VFTW Supporting: Antonella Barba

Dial Idol Results:
Melinda Doolittle 14.4
Lakisha Jones 12.48
Antonella Barba 10.92
Jordin Sparks 7.73
Alaina Alexander 7.6
Sabrina Sloan 6.69
Haley Scarnato 5.89
Leslie Hunt 5.61
Stephanie Edwards 5.6
Gina Glocksen 4.97

Overall, I loved the song choices from these girls! Let's hope that trend continues. I think Dial Idol has gotten this bunch wrong. I can't see Gina and Stephanie being the ones going home?

Top 10 GUYS Perform - Reviews / Predictions

OK I admit I rely on some of my blog friends for the names of these songs! Many of my FAV blogs are down or overloaded! Could my blog be having the same problem? Only time will tell!

Phil Stacey "I Ain't Missing You at All"
Well, in all honesty, I don't like Phil. He bugs me...don't know why. However, this was a really good performance. I liked it much better than last week. I don't get how Simon feels he is a guarantee to be around next week. I don't see it that way?

Jared Cotter "Let's Get it On"
Gosh, I like Jared, and this was BETTER. I still feel like he could do better, like he's holding back? Somewhat forgettable I'm afraid?

AJ Tabaldo "Feelin Good"
This was a good song selection for AJ. I am liking him more and more each time I hear him. He has a good set of pipes! Is that enough...we will see?

Sanjaya Malakar "Steppin out with My Baby"
Sanjaya is the perfect example of how this competition can eat a youngin alive. Unfortunately, I think Jordin will be taking classes alone this year. Sanjaya isn't gonna make it.

Chris Sligh "Trouble"
Chris has a plan...a strategy...that I really want to address. Maybe now isn't the time. The machine that is American Idol wants Chris in the Top 12. This was good enough to make that happen. An interesting note, this song was leaked last week as his song. I thought it was a typo since he ended up singing "Typical". Maybe not, maybe he didn't get clearance in time, or maybe bad info?

Nick Pedro "Fever"
I saw Simon snapping his fingers...did you? I LOVE the tone of Nicks's voice and Simon is right on about the charisma thing. He looked like he came straight from work. I could see Nick being a Michael Buble type performer, if he can overcome the charisma thing.

Blake Lewis "Virtual Insanity"
Now if we could take a little bit of Blake and give it to Nick...? Blake has the performance confidence and a good sense for song selection. He should be safe. Two strong performances from him.

Brandon Rogers "Time After Time"
I share Simon's disappointment with Brandon. I have high hopes for him and he needs to make a better song selection next week, IF he makes it to next week. I really hope Brandon gets another chance. He has so much going for him.

Chris Richardson "Geek in the Pink"
I liked Chris's stage presence and performance on this song. I don't know the song, and maybe I should, but I don't think it will hurt him. I think he is safe.

Sundance Head "Mustang Sally"
Horrible song choice. This song should NEVER be sung on this show. However, it worked OK for Sundance, showed off his range. Simon was right. He can do better.

My bottom 3: Sanjaya, Brandon, Jared
VFTW supporting: Sundance Head

Dial Idol Results:
Sundance Head 16.81
Sanjaya Malakar 14.34
Chris Sligh 12.83
Blake Lewis 11.83
Phil Stacey 11.21
Jared Cotter 10.94
AJ Tabaldo 9.45
Chris Richardson 8.98
Nicholas Pedro 7.43
Brandon Rogers 7.28
