Zap2it is reporting (that People magazine is reporting) that Maks and Karina became engaged over the New Years Eve holiday!
The couple was in Las Vegas to celebrate the new year when he popped the question. A source assures the magazine that "they are really cute together."
Smirnoff, 30, and Chmerkovskiy, who turns 29 this month, are both
natives of Ukraine. She was previously involved with her former "Dancing" partner Mario Lopez, but they split up last spring.
Chmerkovskiy partnered with Olympian Misty May-Treanor on "Dancing" last fall, while Smirnoff danced with chef Rocco DiSpirito.
Wow, that was fast. They both strike me as hopeless romantics, which begs the question - have thought this through? Well best of luck to them either way!
