We have seen more good auditions than bad so far!
Kristy Lee Cook may be coming up...she was very likable along with being talented! She sang Amazing Grace and has a little country spin (don't want to say twang?). Very nice. She lives in a log cabin, raises horses, and is into martial arts. Simon thought she kind of had a 60's thing going. All three liked her obviously. Here's her audition:
A lot more back stories so far...
Brooke White coming up...she sang a Corrine Baily Rae song, 24, has never seen an R-rated movie, doesn't drink or smoke, married, and is a nanny to twins. Simon wants to change the clean image, Brooke said "I dare you". Likable and a bit quirky. Randy called her fresh and I agree. Three yes's to Hollywood. Video:
We saw some other good ones, not on "the list". But remember, "the list" is not complete.
First up of the new season was Joey Catalano. He recently lost over 200 lbs and doesn't really look like an American Idol, but has an amazing voice!Unless I say otherwise these video's are of contestants that made it through to Hollywood:
Another good one...Melanie Nyema. She just so happens to have sung backup 80+ times for our very own Taylor Hicks:
Another one is Angela Martin, 26, from Chicago. She has a daughter that she had when she was a senior in high school that has Retts Syndrome, very similar to Cerebral Palsy. She sings "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" by Stevie Wonder. Likable girl and family:
Chris Watson, 20, from a small town in Delaware, and he sings "Follow Me" by Uncle Cracker. Simon thinks he looks like a star and has an interesting recording voice:
I like this next guy - Junot Joyner singing Elton John's "I Guess Thats Why They Call it the Blues". Powerful voice, and nice tone:
OK, now for a couple fun ones (no they did not make it though). These are really funnier when the whole show isn't filled with them. First up - James Lewis:
Now the Paula Stalker - Paul Marturano:
I know many of you have been searching for Alyssa Coco, but unfortunately we didn't get to see her audition. We did have quick shots of contestants that made it through, but no names were attached.
All in all I thought it was a VERY good show! I am not a big fan of the auditions primarily because all we are shown are BAD singers, and very few diamonds in the rough. Episode One has me very excited about the remaining auditions now!
29 contestants received a golden ticket to Hollywood from Philly!
On to Dallas, TX...I'll be posting who to watch for sometime today.
