My Thoughts On The Finale

Well, now that we have all had some sleep, I thought I'd reflect on the good and bad of the Finale.

First the BAD:

I don't care if Elvis Presley came back from the dead, if he's not singing with an Idol, I don't want him on the show. This year's finale had 4 performances (Gwen Stefani, Tony Bennett, Bette Midler, and Green Day), that had NOTHING to do with American Idol. If they can't do something with a current or previous Idol, get them off the stage. The Idol franchise now has plenty of superstars on their own, they don't need these people for ratings. They would do better without them.

Retire the Golden Idol's NOW. They have done some cute skits in the past with some of the more memorable from the auditions, but this year was BAD. I remember the Clay look alike from last year, and then Clay coming out...that was good! I also remember Season 4, with the David Hasselhoff fan getting to meet him? All Good. This year...All BAD.

Not enough duets, with celebrities. The past couple of years the entire Top 12 got to sing with one of "their" Idols. I hope American Idol adjusts next year and realizes that what makes this show special is the investment we (America) make in the Idols.

The Good:

Loved having the Idol winners back! I'm not wild about them coming on to promote their latest single, would rather see them together, or in a duet with the current year Idols. I would also love to see some of the non-winners back. Maybe singing some group numbers together.

I always forget about the Top 2 getting the Ford mustangs!

I think I liked the Guys group performance over the girls. Chris Sligh sounded great! So did Brandon...I wish they both would have advanced further. I wish we would have heard more than a verse or two from ALL of them.

Blake's duet was good, Blake and Jordin together not good, or maybe not great would be more accurate. Jordin and Ruben sounded great together!

Kelly Clarkson's voice sounded pretty strained, but it was great to see her back! Taylor sounded great and only re-enforced how much better Season 5 was than this year (and that is coming from someone who didn't vote for him in the finale). Carrie was good also. Too bad we didn't have some Fantasia. A video clip of her saying hello and wishing Jordin and Blake luck would have been nice.

Anyway, Season 4 and 5 remain the best finale / results shows to date. Hopefully Idol will get back to that winning formula next year. It's time for me to sign off. I will have videos up sometime today, and will continue to keep everyone up to date on the Idol's as they start their tour and careers.

Oh...and Congratulations Jordin!

Thanks for visiting!
